This section of our Blog allows you to download some of the movie box art that DVD Kiosks need in order to stay current. These will have the release date on the art so you can show your customer what date the movie comes out. Plus! Please post some questions you may have if you want to get into this business. I'll get you all the information you want from a group of us that hang together in the brotherhood of the video rental business! WE DO NOT LIST USED KIOSKS. WE ARE NOT RESELLERS

How does everyone handle the 3d movies that are out. Do you only provide the 2d version or get a supply of glasses. The Hanna Montana box says 3d movie. Will people expect the 3d movie? Journey to the Center of the Earth is streeting 10/28 and pre book 9/23, do you get 2d or 3d?
Joe,
My personal opinion would be to skip the 3d version. I think that people will mess up the glasses and you'd have to have the counter person give the glasses out and collect them. The whole point for the store is to be involved on a limited basis with the customer. There's a reason why small stores got away from movies. They wanted to focus more time on actually selling than calling folks to bring their movies back. We won't do it at our stores because it would be a mess trying to get the glasses back from the customer. Who knows, the customer might even try and put the glasses in the kiosk to return it. I have already had people fill up my credit card slot with quarters thinking that they can get a rental by dumping quarters in the machine.

We will be up and running tomorrow. Just a couple questions. I believe I read a comment on here where someone has their machine in a high spanish speaking area. Ours will be as well. Do you offer "spanish" movies? I mean common, popular spanish titles (if there is such a thing, or even the new releases translated? Just curious. Store owner did say though that having the instructions on the machine in english as opposed to spanish is fine. Couple other questions I have, do any of you stock series? Like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Nip Tuck, any movies, or tv series? If so how do you price them, and do you separate the discs, I'm guessing you have to to fit in and out of the slots? And lastly what about the movies that come with 2 discs in them lately or the ones that don't come in the typical box. Like WallE. Where do you get the artwork to transfer them in to a box that will work?
I thought I was getting the hang of ordering, but I guess not. What I am really struggling with is getting the movies I want pre-ordered before they are back ordered. The other thing I don’t understand is how the pre-book dates work, if I can pre-book before the pr-book date what significance does that date have?
It seems everything I want to put in my machines is on back order. For example, I looked up the movies Swing Vote, Lake view Terrace and My best friend’s girl. All of which are on back order already and the street dates aren’t until January.
How far out do I need to place an order to avoid having all the movies on back order and where do I get the information on which movies are pre booking that far out.
I really like having the movies a few days ahead of the street date but because I can’t seem to figure out how to get the movies on time, my orders are small, inconsistent and the shipping cost are killing me. Most of the time I end up at wal mart on the street date buying what ever they have.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
Curtis
Curtis,
I forwarded your concerns to Rhonda Young at VPD. She should be able to help you out.

Rhonda and I spoke, she was great to help.
I did not understand that the pre-order date is the last day to pre-order, I thought it was the first date to order. Also when I pre-ordered the movies would always show back ordered.
Rhonda told me they are not back ordered, just ignore the BO and order the movies, they will arrive on time. this only works for pre orders
Thanks
Curtis
Mike not sure where to address this question.
Does anyone know the best way to shrink wrap the DVDs to sell them after they are in the machine? Is there a machine that we can purchase or maybe a different way of doing it?
Some of my IGA stores already have the shrink wrap machines. I don't have to worry about it on my end because my stores take care of the movies once they come out.

Sorry I didn't see your question until now. I found that shop4tech has some a nice substitute for shrink wrap. The work well and are cheap
